Kentucky and California, United States [RenewableEnergyWorld.com] Ecolab Inc.'s Ecovation division has announced the installation and start-up of its proprietary whole stillage treatment system at the Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. Ecovation collaborated with Maker's Mark to design, build and operate the waste stream treatment system that will enable the Maker's Mark Distillery to significantly recycle its waste stream and generate renewable energy.
"Together, Ecovation and the Maker's Mark Distillery have developed a new, sustainable model for whole stillage management involving our proprietary Mobilized Film Technology."
-- Diane Creel, Sr. VP and General Manager, Ecovation
Maker's Mark's new facility will anaerobically treat the liquid portion of the whole stillage and process waters produced during bourbon-making, generating methane-rich biogas, a renewable energy source, that will offset 165 MMBtu, or 15 - 30%, of the facility’s natural gas consumption. |
