"If in the next week the PUA includes kibbutz members equally in the Solar PV proposal at IS2.04 (US $0.58), we'll have bulldozers here by May 1 preparing the first field."

I think what our friend Sam is saying is that acre already is in sq. ft. So a squared acre would actually be (43560 sq ft)^2 or 1.89Billion sq ft. I think...

Regardless, I think PV is cool.

Cheers

In order to develop the Clean Energy industry in Israel, Arava Power should ideally use Israeli engineers and project managers so the jobs don't go offshore. If unavailable, Israeli engineers can learn alongside a foreign construction firm as the project takes place, and that should be part of the contract. Additionally, Israeli supplied equipment with associated engineering expertise could be used in its entirety.

Sam,
A square acre equals a plot of land 64 meters by 64 meters (or 70 yards by 70 yards).
It is a common measure of the size of land in the US. For example, my house in the suburbs is on a 0.5 acre plot of land.
Thanks

at IS2.04 (US $0.58) (per kWh???)

Its green so it must be a good thing.

We can't say anything bad if its green.

Where is the cool-aid at?

A square acre would be a quantity to the 4th power. That is a volume with a time factor thrown in. Perhaps we are approaching the long awaited time travel. Get modern though. How about working in square hectares. If you do like NASA did mixing up SI units and British units you would end up back in the age of dinosaurs rather than at the battle of Gettisburg.

In 1981,while doing my Master's thesis in Solar Engineering at the Desert Research Institute at Sde Boker, I suggested that the entire Negev Desert could be a P/V field.
Finally, over a quarter of a century later, it might become a reality!

It sounds as though Jim is "GREEN" with envy because Arava is able to tap into that huge ball of hydrogen in the sky!
