This is a great discovery for all humans. In Africa nations, there are often infectious epidemic due to lack of waste treatment. So as other underdeveloped nations..

If this finding is developed into practical system, it can be used at any place as long as people live.

I wonder what is the state of discharge after the wastes were consumed? Would it be clean enough to discharge? It must be sterilized before discharge.
I am looking forward to learning this further.

This is a very interesting news and research but i wonder what is the strain of bacteria used or all/any strain will work, what about the size of the reactor and is there any nutrient requirement for the bacteria.

This is indeed a very great discovery. I hope this breakthrough will be develop so that every country could make use and benefit from it like the Philippines. We really need that here because we do not have a proper disposal of waste though some are being recycled, a lot are still dumped in places where a lot of people resides. There are also a lot of places where electricity is insufficient. And I know a lot of countries are like the Philippines or even worse and we all need that!

I have been doing this for years. I live in a rural area . We use septic systems for our waste. I drilled a 2 inch hole into the top of my tank added 2" PVC pipe & an anarobic bacterium and collected the Hydrogen and Methane . Runs my tractor ( formaly deisel) , gives me heating for home and if we do not satisfy the input , go to the neighbors animal waste pile and fortify the tank with the necessary volumn. I also have a larger tank that I run the local dairy herds waste through. Using the same Bacteria as above I have a closed system that I draw one atmospher from and maintain it by an electronic monitour. This causes the Bacteria to work more efficently and produces , Methane , Methanol, Water(pure) and ammonia. This needs a control to hold the bacteria back sometimes when certain foods are feed to the animals. Just opening the air into the tank will slow the process.

I am so much interested on your post sir thomas..can you possibly give me the whole idea (step-by-step) and the materials needed on how to make my own electric power generator out of my own septic tank? I am from the Philippines and am willing to share it with my neighbors and constituents as well and be part of your quest to help the world especially to those who need it the most. thank you.
