"One critical piece of information that has been learned through the SolarBC project thus far is that reliable, long-term government programs must be put in place for the market to establish itself. Short-term, stop-and-go programs actually damage the industry."

....So this must be seen as an investment, not a liability.
Solar hot water is the best way to drive down costs for home utility overhead per dollar spent. Its very low tech and is reality accomplishable.
Perhaps the new upcoming administration will actually help with US subsidies like Canada. The administration better roll out some plan,..Canada's tar sands won't last forever either.
All the Best,...

Entirely good input. We're headed for a steady-state decline of fuel; we need to produce our own home hot water; but even people like myself who make 40-50k a year and want to do a hot water project on my roof,..are finding a hard time doing so.
The average guy knows very little about hot water technology;so a hot water propaganda "teaching" campaign would need to be rolled out first. We can get the government funding to do this perhaps from the funds that get freed up after the war is over. We spend two billion a week on the war now. Two billion will go far to tweak our perception of what the common man can do;the rest will be spent on subsidies. The money will "pay for itself" within 3-4 years, not 7-10.
