Yuks!  Looks like we might have some potential investors in ocean power!

What about me having to look at dirty coal-fired power plants and the hundreds of surface coal mines that have ripped the top of mountains off?  What about the acid mine drainage caused by careless coal mining companies that has polluted Appalachia for the last 200 years?  I'm real sorry that those wind turbines will spoil your view Kennedy.  I hope those rich, greedy, self-centered, hypocrites lose the fight to ban the windmills.

Uh Mr. Kennedy.. can you move your mansion back 200 feet please, the ice caps are melting  and the rising ocean water may ruin your  carpets., excuse me sir,  do you feel that rising water will effect the property values in this  area of MA?

Minority communities continue to suffer from exposure to air pollution emitted from natural gas and coal power plants sited in their communities.  Yet when it is time for a wealthy community to share in energy production, one with no toxic pollution, it still objects. Maybe a 1000MW nuclear plant would be preferred.  At least it could be built in the middle of Nantucket and not block any ocean view.

It's also interesting that not only is Senator Kennedy against it, but Sen. John Kerry is against Cape Wind as well.  On the other hand, Bush was Texas Governor in 1998 when Texas passed the first successful state RPS and Texas is now #1 in wind energy.  Also in 98/99 time frame, Bush installed geothermal and solar heating at Crawford Ranch.  Hmmm.

As a Cape homeowner (w/ solar heat &  hot water) I want  Cape Wind to work.  Now that Romney is gone (like Kennedy, a fierce defender of  the wealthy's right to screw us over)  the chances are better.  They left out  a whole bunch of stuff.  The Honorary Chair  of the anti wind forces  is an oil  &  gas Billionaire whose views would also be affected.  He had a precious quote when he took the office.  It was  "I am here to save you from the greedy capitalists behind Cape Wind".

This would be funny if it wasn't so sad. If they don't like the impact on the views with the windmills (what us mortals wouldn't do for a view like that - with or without windmills), why don't they pool their vast sums of money and invest in research for wave and tidal energy technology that we all could benefit from.  That's a win-win. I also didn't notice any solar panels on the mansions (but maybe I missed it). Bottom line:  worse case of hypocrisy and NIMBY I've ever heard.  For shame.

But what is Bush doing now? Instead of a "war time effort" for renewables and their best electrical storage potential, he.. well not not doing much good. Perhaps in the last decade, he rode the RE ulterior motive bandwagon?

As a make believe political stratigest, I suggest, can't he denounce the dems and make cape wind happen for (nothing else) a gain in popular acceptance?
