This is indeed a wonderful resource if it can be tapped economically, and will give America the independance it needs from outside energy influences and oil sources. However, my money says that that this huge gift of nature will lay gathering dust in some beaurocratic office of the shinney trousers brigade, where many of our other far sighted proposals have ended up:

DEAR SIRS : ITS A SHAME I HAVE TO AGREE WITH G.MILLS THAT AN ENERGY SOURCE SUCH AS THE OIL INDUSTRY HAS AT HAND A BUNCH OF GOVT."HIGH HATS" WHO ONLY THINK OF "WHATS IN IT FOR THEM" WILL LOUSE UP A VERY GOOD ENERGY SOURCE FOR US USA CITIZENS AS A WAY TO ELIMINATE FOREIGN COSTLY SUPPLIES!! WHY NOT "RECHANNEL THE HOT WATER 1ST THROUGH A FORMABLE LOW PRESSURE GENERATOR PICK UP THE ELECTRIC SUPPLY [sell it or save iTor use it for your own use -maybe as a emergency source ] THEN SEND THE HOT WATER TO SAY A CITY OR TOWN FOR THEIR USE ;THEN RETURN IT TO YOUR PIPES BACK DOWN UNDERGROUND TO BE REHEATED F-R-E-E !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have read the article on the Chena Hot Springs north of Fairbanks AK. They are generating all of their electricity from 165 degree F water. Why don't commercial power plants utilize their waste heat this way?

Along with Christina, we at RE Projects Mission RPM are strong advocates of solar/geothermal hybrid systems, that can be developed, along with windpower, in our border regions and along our coastlines...

Checkout our blogs on Border-Power to the People!

http://tehachapihigh-windfarms.blogspot.com

165 degrees F can be easily met with solar thermal collectors. A home system could generate electricity and the turbine's condensor could heat a home and preheat hot water. Storage would be hot water rather than batteries.

Christina Nelson, The Original Coffee Company Online

Is this strictly speaking a renewable resource?

The "High Hats" as you put it wouldn't have gotten involved if the oil companies hadn't been so greedy bleeding us dry and had already been developing this resource. Demonizing the government is a cheap shot; we only get the government we deserve when we don't hold it accountable and participate.

Karl: The geopressured resources have one unmentioned value and that is that the heat and high pressure can be used to distill out the salt and provide a new source of good quality fresh water without disturbing the recovery of the methane element. In placeslike the Kern Valley this could augment the water supply for Southern California and there are several other geopressured reserves where fresh water is in critical shortage. As to the gas recovery check EXXON's patents in this field. They have been on to thhis rresource since then 70's and you were working in the House.

Karl: Dose exploring the geothermal resource have conflict with the oil and gas exploring? Are there any effects exploring the geothermal resource in the oilfield? Thanks!
