The Rise of Portugal

Portugal Oh Portugal,
Home of Romans, land of Moor,
Mother of Brazilian people,
Great explorers, fossil poor.

Back you rise in prominence,
Lusitania's ancient tribe,
Rome had nothing over you,
Wine of solar you imbibe.

Sunshine plenty you inherit,
Moving to entrap this power,
Sunlight tracking system's course,
Harvesting the sunshine hour.

Completing the Serpa Project,
Silicon technology,
Bringing to the Porta people,
Source of this new energy.

Roger's estimate makes sense. Panels were about half the cost of my PV array, too. http://www.zapsys.com/solarpanels.jpg

Ok, that would be:

11MW / 52000 panels = 211 watts per panel

and

75 Million dollars / 52000 panels = $1442 dollars per panel = 1080 euros.

A Kyocera 200 watt retails for about $939

They probably paid a lot less, say $650 per panel,
so, panel cost was less than half of the installation - trackers, inverters, pads, wiring, engineering, installation, land, and administration made up the rest.
