New Solar Lamp from SolarOne and Hadco

SolarOne Solutions and Hadco unveiled a solar powered post top style lamp for decorative lighting applications at the Sullivan Renaissance Conference and Expo this past Saturday in Bethel, NY. The lighting system integrates photovoltaic power and LED lighting technology into a fixture that is reminiscent of 19th century gas lamps. The system was designed to address concerns of architects and planners who consider decorative lighting systems powered by bulky solar panels and batteries aesthetically unappealing. Also, increases in LED and solar cell efficiency combined with refinements in control technology enable SolarOne's system to produce dramatically more light for longer periods of time for given solar panel/battery dimensions.

Lamp- 2-4 lamp heads of 24 high power Cree LEDs each in aluminum housings

Lamp Life- >50,000 hours

Lamp Color- 6500K

Light Output- Estimated at 1200, 1800 or 2400 Lumens

System Voltage- 12 Volts

Battery- One or two 106 amp-hour sealed, maintenance-free batteries

Fixture Construction- Low copper cast aluminum, polyester powder coated for great durability

Weather Resistant- Rain, snow, sleet resistant, -20 degrees to 110 degrees F

Protection- Electronic protection from overcharging, deep discharging battery, circuit overload, over-temperature, reverse polarity

The SolarOne/Hadco Mainstreet light is sold through Hadco's Custom Division. All current SolarOne systems use AGM Batteries because of their demonstrated reliability for solar applications, the high recycle rate and the ready availability of recycling facilities.

Expected retail for the 2400 lumen version of this fixture is in the area of $8,000, though prices may vary due to energy storage requirements and quantities. To get a quotation, contact Chuck Hatt, Hadco Lighting, 717-359-7131 x212.
