"The states have already shown us that renewable standards can be successful. The federal government should step in with its own standard so the entire country can enjoy the benefits of renewable energy. The nation's security and the health of our planet are too important to leave to the states."

- Alan Nogee, Union of Concerned Scientists, Clean Energy Program Director

Coal burning producers are bad air inducers we need to get out of this mess,
Renewable stuff will be proving quite tough, overcoming our climate distress,
For twenty percent is no more than a dent in removing our carbon pollution,
We have to ask more and to leaders implore to assist in percent evolution.

Percent Evolution

Twenty percent will make a nice dent in the present 'lectric situation,
But our great desire is percentage much higher with coal we lack infatuation,
The planning is fair but still in the air 2020 is far far away,
And the changes to come before all's said and done could mean higher percentage that day.

Oh we cannot assume that renewable bloom will be keeping us low by the twenty,
For energy sources, fresh thoughts and resources may give us new power a plenty,
Though this twenty sounds fair we wish to declare that we double and triple our vision,
So that looking higher we'll meet our desire accomplishing revised decision.

finally it is happening. this combined with the fact that g.w. bush finaly came up with 1 billion(drop in a bucket)to help america, means to me that assumeing our next president believes in renewable energy we will be ready move forward at a faster pace.

Efficiency measures to plan and take action,
Steps to save wasteful power loss faction,
But to stop at this level far little embraces,
Our energy efforts must move us new places,
Our government needs to support what we've tried
The switch to re-newables can't be denied,
Anything else would be empty and hollow,
Our path is now clear, let us go, let us follow,
Our leaders must make honest efforts we reckon,
And move us directly to where new sources beckon.

We Are Cooking Ourselves

Where are we going if we don't move ahead,
To remain in one place means go backward instead,
Congress you know needs to pass a few bills,
The health of our planet depends on no frills,
But honest to goodness reduction of gases,
That grip our poor planet like blackened molasses,
En-circle our globe holding heat in its grasp,
When is this climate distortion to pass?
We are cooking ourselves like a round can of stew,
We must take a stance, there is plenty to do,

People please do not count your chickens before they hatch.

Congress will screw up this legislation to make it moot before it reaches the signing tables of the president.

I agree with the solar as well as the wind turbines. This may be a way that we could actually make a profit with the farm. Line them up in rows or any way you want to. We can look at as many as you can put out on the farm, as well as plant grass around them to asorb other CO2 gasses as well. I 'm liking this more already.

A Bitter Brew

Noah built an ark to get away from waters flooding,
But now the atmosphere with carbon gases we are mudding,
An ark we need protecting us from the ice that is to melt,
With rising waters, super-storms beginning to be felt,
No rainbow promising to guide us from our fatal ways,
We keep on burning carbon dire predictions do not faze,
Our companies and leaders wish to keep their power grasp,
Money holds on nations we're not able to unclasp,
The deadly grip of carbons round the throat of mice and men,
Must be paid with toil and blood before we see the end,
For damage to our mother earth, environmental harm,
Is certain to return to us in Mother Nature's arm,
She gives us food and water and whatever that we've sought,
But when we mis-behave then we'll be treated as we ought,
'Tis time to let our leaders know that they must think anew,
For the changes soon will nature bring us back a bitter brew.

The goal of 20% is minor, as there is almost limitless electrical energy available to us. Enough solar energy strikes the U.S. daily to provide ALL our energy needs for a year-and-a-half. Here in California, 20X the amount of useable solar energy strikes the state as the peak total we use (50 gigawatts vs 1 terrawatt). A 40- square-mile solar-thermal-trough facility in the desert would produce all the peak energy neede on the hottest day of summer here. And that doesn't take into account wind, tide, geothermal, etc. What is lacking, is priority and commitment by the government.

Any effort from the federal side of government should be welcomed. We should also keep in mind that the likelihood of success for constructive legislation will be directly proportional to the simplicity of congress' actions. Congress need not strain their bipartisan backs taking on too much of the "renewable energy" load since energy is a common denominator for current events, both foreign and domestic. Therefore congress needs only to establish a simple mechanism to assist renewable energy businesses side step political and energy industry barricades.

The Global Warming is "the problem". There three aspects of the problem.
1- The green house gas is there; How can we reduce it ? We can't tell the people in China to stop using energy? They need it to escape from poverty.
2- Much of us talking about reduce the "CO2"; This does not save the planet but only making it choked slower.
3- We need somehow to have more efficient technology to capture renewable energy. If one is there and it is competative to fossil fuel govement and people will endorse it. As examples: The modern wind turbine let 99& of the air pass through without even touched. The wave and the tidal energy are virtually untouched.
I Think there is solution for that; Please give it a look give it a promotional helping hand if you think it's worth.
It is: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=wind+turbine+wave&search=Search
Thanks.

Adrian,

don't you think you're pushing it a little bit by posting multiple and often irrelevant comments below almost each article on this site ??
