"This plant represents exactly the kind of advancement in the alternative fuels industry that I will make the focus of our economic development efforts. This facility will mean new jobs and millions of dollars for Iowa's economy. In my administration, as the renewable energy economy continues to grow rapidly, we will continue the progress we have made in attracting firms like the Broin Companies to Iowa to create more opportunities."

-- Chet Culver, Iowa Governor-Elect

As usual, the Problem is being attacked at the wrong end.
Is it just greed or the unlimited stupidity of the non-caring Corporate Hirarchy and remedial-school-educated Politicians, that come up with "Solutions"like this?Aside from putting in vastly more Energy than getting out of this Scheme, soil depletion and skyrocketing Food Prices with many other Negatives will become apparent, after this boondogle is finished.
It it pretty obvious, that nobody is serious about conserving Energy, while the Humvees hammering down the Freeway at 85 MPH.
America,if you don't practice self restraint, squandering your dwindeling Resources, your Days of unrestrained Breeding, V8s and SUV are numbered!!

Sounds promising. Is this the largest planned cellulose plant in the US? Anyone know the largest current cellulose based plant operating in the US (if any)?

How is it being attacked at the wrong end? The whole idea is to get more ROE out of ethanol and with cellulosic ethanol requiring 83% less energy to produce, it is definitely a step in the right direction. I agree conservation has to play the major part, but in the end you'll still need to get your fuel from somewhere.
