Grants Support Research on Renewable Energy Projects

Madison, Wisconsin [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Focus on Energy will award grants to research that will address the siting of renewable energy facilities in relation to the ecology in Wisconsin.
Topics include the siting of renewable energy facilities, such as environmental (wildlife) issues that impact the siting and required infrastructure of utility-scale wind farms; the air and water quality impact of siting biomass generation facilities, including monitoring of existing installations (anaerobic digestion); and the biodiversity and land-use considerations of growing and burning biomass fuel crops.

Each project must demonstrate a clear and critical need for new or continued research for Wisconsin, particularly projects that provide timely support to the goals of the Environmental Research Program. Only one-year projects will be considered in this funding round. Researchers and prospective applicants must submit an Intent to Propose form by October 16, 2006, and final proposals are due by 12:00 p.m. on October 30, 2006.
