"The proposed Stirling project, and other renewable energy resources like it, will help secure a clean-energy future for California. But we must have new transmission lines, like the Sunrise Powerlink, to ensure this renewable energy can be delivered to customers."

-- Bill Keese, past chairman of the California Energy Commission and ABLE member

One of the main purposes of expanding Califonia's energy mix to include a higher percentage of renewables is to help combact global warming associated with the burning of fossil fuels. If the justification for adding this line to the grid is to connect those new renewable plants with consumers, then restrictions should be made on what TYPES of energy can use this line, and what areas are off limits to the line's path. One environmental benefit should not sacrifice another. Under NO circumstances should the renewables arguement be used as cover for importing cheap fossil fuel energy from Mexico and Arizona - thus circumventing CA environmental policies. Very, very shady.
