Solar Charger Keeps New Cars from Losing Power

ICP Solar of Montreal, Canada, has launched a new automotive OEM solar charger, designed to prevent new car batteries from dying before they reach the dealer lot. According to ICP, extensive R&D by the company led to a breakthrough in charger efficiency. The ICP charger, the company says, delivers more power per square inch than competing solar technologies under similar conditions of temperature and light. ICP landed its first major automotive OEM contract with Volkswagen to become the world's first supplier of thin-film solar solutions to car makers.

"The ICP Solar OEM automotive product line makes solar energy friendly for car makers and saves them substantial costs per car manufactured. Many car makers were aware of solar energy, but few realized how it can benefit their battery related challenges from factory floor to dealer lot."
