Excellent!!! Just as the blacksmiths of the 1800's gave way to the mechanics of the 1900's and the horse stables transitioned into service stations, so now we also have to change to adapt to the needs of this era which are expertise in developing and maintaining renewable sources of energy. Congratulations to the Madison Area Technical College for spearheading efforts in this direction and for the National Science Foundation to provide much needed funding.

I whole heartedly agree with Adiran Akau, but I also have to say that its all for nothing if PV cannot be made affordable to the masses without state and federal incentives.
Lets call it what it really is, its welfare for solar energy. Because the cost of a PV system on or offgrid that can produce a worth wihle amount of electric energy is so expensive, the vast majority cannot afford one. Only a select few in certian states can afford this technology with government assistance.
If the whole of the PV industry including; inverter, controls, electrical, and battery manufactures expects me to believe in their PR (or could that be BS?) then they well have to do better with their MSRP.
I had lived offgrid with no electricity what so ever for over twenty years only recently utilizing PV energy for our home, so I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that human beings do not need electricity to survive on the planet Earth!

Just look at pre 1900's is history.

Great ideas! Why is it that more technical educational institutions across the country can't see the need? I've been searching for these types of courses online, since none are locally available in Michigan. The educational world needs to develop training & courses in tune with the new world.
