Fuel Cell Brings Heat and Power to British Homes

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] British Gas is working on a commercial development program with Ceres Power to provide domestic boilers, powered by fuel cells, that produce electricity as well as heat. The new boilers could reduce household energy bills and cut carbon dioxide emissions. The two companies will determine how Ceres' fuel cells can be packaged into a combined heat and power unit that will provide household electricity as well as heat for hot water and central heating. It will use natural gas already piped into the home and has already undergone testing. Ceres Power CEO Peter Bance said the company's goal is to enable people to have a highly efficient, extremely safe and environmentally friendly miniature power station in their homes.
