First wind power project on Forest Service land in works

[AP] The evergreen trees of the Green Mountain National Forest in southern Vermont could soon be dwarfed by 370-foot-tall wind turbines. A company wants to build up to 30 of the turbines in the forest in what would be the first wind power project on U.S. Forest Service land. The project would produce enough electricity to power 14,000 to 16,000 homes. The Forest Service is expected to take up to 18 months to decide whether to approve the project by Deerfield Wind LLC. See the full article from the Associated Press via the Concord Monitor.

I think that building wind generators on public land would be a good idea but I shudder at the thought of placing them where our forests are located. There must be other sites available. I support renewable energy development fully but not at the cost of pristine beauty.

Forests help to remind us of all that God created to be beautiful and should be kept sacred for this purpose.
