Wind Energy for the Residential Masses

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Wind energy technology for small, residential applications has faced development problems in terms of mounting the turbines, surviving turbulent winds and generating enough electricity for substantial power needs. Four companies; U.S. Wind Farming, Zeller International, Apache Electric and Ashman Technologies, are forming a partnership to develop a new generation of wind turbine/solar/LED technologies for global urban and rural settings. The project is sponsored through homeland security applications, and the companies expect to install the technology in three locations in New York City soon. The goal of the partnership is to manufacture, install and operate these next generation technologies in the U.S. where about 15 million homes and over 1 million small businesses could use small wind energy systems under favorable economic circumstances. They are also looking to Europe, which currently uses wind power for about 2 percent of its electrical energy needs, and the European Wind Power Association predicts that the global market for wind power equipment could be worth some $35 billion per year within five years.

Take 4% of everyone's S.S. taxes and invest it in wind farms in the most favorable places in the country. Charge residents electricity rates that return 7% for their retirement investment. When all the most opportune points for wind are in play, continue in the next highest areas of potential. Not only will everyone be paying for the investors retirement, the government will return billions in investments back into the U.S. instead of in the pockets of foreign governments. Biodiesel can accomplish the most transformation in the transportation field and solar and PV will help in the electrical requirements in residential and small business. Farmers wind farms are the next cash crop in the U.S.

What is needed to help manufacturers and the country are small scale electric farms using the above technology which would create small businesses that could sell clean electric back thru the grid and make a profit to continut to grow the site and to buy additional equipment to keep everyone advancing, also have the automobile industry convert to electric.

This partnership is too complicated. It's a mile wide and an inch deep. "forming a partnership to develop a new generation of wind turbine/solar/LED technologies" Do one thing and do it well. Move on to the next thing and then do it well. Sounds like a boondoggle to me -- especially since they want to use taxpayer money in the form of homeland security funds to pay for it.

All of the above comments are very good. But they all contain one thing in common. And, that is all the proposed suggestions request that 'someone else' design, fabricate, build, develop, market, patent, etc. new solar, wind, and other alternate energy products and concepts. Why wait for big oil or for GE or for Seimans, etc. to do what needs to be done. Lets get started and do these things ourselves, and make some of the new money ourselves.
Got any ideas? Develop them.
