Verdant Power expects to complete this $10 to 20 million East River project, including power conditioning and grid connection, by 2007.

Wow, 494 units, that's 10.4 MW, not bad but will there be room for the fish.

Great project. NYC is starved for power. This project is going to be a winner for sure. Hopefully the first of many many tidal and alt.energy projects in NYC.

They said that it will make NYC the alt.energy capital of the world.

NYC and all coastal Cities should utlise this generating to lower our vonribility to centrelised power outadges.

Dear Friend:
I liked the information about the potential energy use from the simple flow of a river. Especially when one lives near one and is very accessable for such studies. Reading the article gave me an idea on how the technology can benefit not only my people who are living on isolated reserves in the north, but as well as people who are unaware that there are other forms to make energy. Energy that is being developed by people who are contributing to the well being of our home planet and future leaders that are our children.

494 units and only 10.4 MW.... that doesn't sound very efficient.
