"Hardly a bunch of old hippies and tree huggers, the fact of their letter confirms what the sustainable energy advocates have been saying all along -- that the Bush Administration's disregard for developing clean domestic energy alternatives places the nation squarely in harm's way."

- Joel Stronberg, the Washington representative for the American Solar Energy Society

To see where these guys are coming from, check out www.peakoil.net. Consider getting the documentary available at www.endofsuburbia.com and sharing it with your family and friends.

The issue is not about running out of oil, it is about not being able to produce it at a rate that keeps up with demand. We have been pumping the easy stuff for a century. Now many of the producing nations have peaked and are in serious decline, exacerbating the problem. USA production peaked in 1970.
We get about 14% of our natural gas from Canada, about half of their production, and they are peaking. Lots of oil is in tar sands and oil shale but it takes a lot of energy to extract it. Those nonconventional sources will never provide a solution to our problem. Renewables must be developed ASAP, but they will be unable to sustain our current usage patterns. We need mass transit for people and freight, very high mpg autos and much higher fuel prices (market signals).
Good luck planet!

Industrial Hemp is legally grown as a feedstock for ethanol, methanol, biodiesel & biogas in Canada. Build mills in Canada & export to USA...diversify your portfolio.
Check out www.vancouverislandhemp.com
The carbohydrate economy existed for thousands of years...the hydrocarbon industry lasted ~100 years.
Keep America strong & sustainable.

Interesting stuff. Anyone here have info on alternative energy investing? I'm trying to find either a mutual fund, or investing group that reviews publicly traded companies.
thanks.

Take a mirror, bend it into a parabolic dish and aim it at the sun with a dual-axis tracker. It will produce enough heat to generate all the power you want, while "burning" nothing but the sun's own radiation. Simple, clean and essentially beyond all patents...

Let's solve the coming energy crunch individually, instead of from the top down. My 18 solar panels feed the grid, for the good of my neighbors as well as myself. We are all capable of shifting the focus of our investments away from complete self-centeredness. This revolution begins with us, and is below the radar...

We need to keep bugging our Senators & Congressmen to get after this - Renewable Energy.
One company you (all) might want to get in on - is close to producing a great system, though will likely be a year or two till they really take off, has some awesome technology, is - www.iaus.com
