What is the amount of acreage that will be covered by windmills to produce 2300 MW and how does that compare to a nuclear or fossil fuel plant?

Acerage impacts could be calculated a number of ways, and readers should be mindful of the context the answer is provided in.

You could calculate impacts by the direct footprint of the turbine foundations, access roads and support facilities.

You could calculate impacts by the boundaries of the project footprint - the area(s) within which all the turbines are located.

Finally, you could impacts by viewshed - the total area in which the facility represents a significant visual intrusion.

Which calculation is most relevant to your concerns?

The boundary calculation for the Fenner Wind project in NYS - our largest at the moment at 30MW/20 turbines - is probably 12 acres. The boundary calculation at the permitted but as yet constructed Flat Rock project - soon to be largest east of the Mississippi at 300 MW/180 turbines - is probably 25 square miles or so.
