Filasa International, a French closely held company, plans to invest about 1.4 billion euros ($1.8 billion) in 10 wind parks in Romania in coming years, the company said in an e-mailed statement today.

Filasa, through its Romanian unit Eolenvest, is currently developing nine wind parks with a total installed capacity of 897 megawatts in the southeastern counties of Buzau and Braila, according to the statement.

The French company is also investing 1 billion euros in another wind park in the northern county of Suceava with a capacity of about 516 megawatts. Ziarul Financiar reported today that Filasa is seeking to develop 300 megawatts of power from solar plants in Romania.
