Ria Persad Named POWER-GEN 2013 Woman of the Year

StatWeather Founder and President Ria Persad was announced as the recipient of Renewable Energy World and Power Engineering’s first POWER-GEN Woman of the Year Award last Monday during the Annual Awards Gala at POWER-GEN International.

Statweather provides probabilistic weather prediction tools for weather risk management for the power industry. Persad founded the company in 2009 to provide weather risk analysis using a method of looking at data more similar to how computer scientists and mathematicians look at data.  She also founded the Freedom Scholars of America Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to students who may not be eligible for financial aid because their parents are undocumented immigrants or because they are mothers returning to school on a part-time basis.

Persad gave an inspiring keynote speech during the Women in Power Luncheon last Thursday at the Orange County Convention Center as part of the show. A video with highlights of her career is below. You can read a previously published profile of Persad here.
