Ethiopia to Build 10 Hydrolectric Projects

The government of Ethiopia said it will build 10 hydroelectric projects over the next decade at a cost of US $10 billion, according to Nazret.com, an online news service in Ethiopia.

The projects’ combined capacity would be 15,000 MW, said the Ethiopian Electric and Power Corp. Ethiopia recently completed the 300-MW Tekeze hydroelectric project, the largest public works project in Ethiopia’s history. (HydroWorld 11/16/09)

Ethiopia plans to open three more hydroelectric projects in coming months and already has agreed to provide power supplies to Kenya, Sudan and Dijibouti. Nazret.com reported. (From HydroWorld.com)
