Small Scale Solar PV Project Updates

A weekly look at select projects 1-megawatt (MW) and under being installed around the world.

Pacific Power Management has completed Placer County's largest solar power system at a school. The 483 kW power plant is now generating solar power for Placer Unified School District (PUHSD), specifically at Del Oro High School in Loomis, California.

PPM financed, owns, and operates the system and PUHSD buys the power generated from the system through a long-term contract known as a power purchase agreement (PPA). The 483-kilowatt (kW) solar power plant generates over 660,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year providing approximately half of the high school's total energy requirements.

Solar installations at the Crescent Park apartments in Richmond, California are nearing completion. EAH Housing, a nonprofit affordable housing developer and manager based in San Rafael California, contracted with Berkeley-based Sun Light and Power to provide solar power to serve 24 buildings and 378 family apartments for this large community on nearly 25 acres.

The solar installation at Crescent Park – a $7 million dollar project installed by Sun Light and Power have a total capacity of 908 kW and include 4323 SunPower, 210-watt modules and 180, SunPower M Series inverters.

Finally, Pohl & Holmes, a leading California huller and sheller of almonds, broke ground on a 504-kW solar photovoltaic project. They selected Cenergy Power to provide the turnkey solar solution, which includes approximately 2520 solar modules and is expected to produce about 740,105 kwh of power per year. The large ground-mount system is expected to be completed by mid-November of this year.
